BURNITERR

Privacy policy

Draft · final text before launch

Last updated 5 October 2026

The short version

  • Your weigh-ins are private. Your friend sees only what you choose (by default, your progress in %).
  • We keep what the game needs to work. No ads, no selling your data, no tracking you around the web.
  • You can delete your account in the app at any time, and everything goes from our server too.

Who we are

BURNITERR is made by 8dilation (“we”, “us”). Questions about your data: 8dilation@gmail.com.

What we collect, and why

  • Your account. When you sign in with Apple, Apple gives us an account identifier for you. We ask Apple for your first name only, to suggest a display name. We don’t ask for your email address.
  • Your profile. The name and character you choose. The friend you bet with sees them.
  • Your bets. The terms you agree (length, start, stake, rules), your starting weight, goal, height, weigh-ins and final weight. Height is used to keep goals within healthy limits.
  • Cheers, nudges and reports you send.
  • Notifications, if you allow them: a device token so we can send reminders and bet updates.
  • Proof photos, if you choose to add them: stored privately, visible only to the two people in the bet, and deleted 30 days after the bet ends (or sooner, if you delete them).
  • Your age check happens on your phone. We don’t store your date of birth.
  • Technical data. Our hosting providers process standard request data, like your IP address, to run the service and keep it secure. The app has no advertising or analytics trackers.

Your weight is health data

We treat it that way. We use it only to run your bets: to show your progress, check goals against healthy limits, and decide the result. We never use it for advertising, never sell it, and never share it with data brokers.

Who sees what

  • You see everything you enter.
  • Your friend in a bet sees your name, character and whether you weighed in, plus your progress as your Privacy setting allows: your weight, your % only (the default), or nothing until the final reveal. At the end you both see the result, with the numbers that were compared.
  • Nobody else. This is enforced on our server, not just hidden in the app.
  • Share cards show only what you choose to share.

Where it’s stored

Your data is stored with Supabase (database and sign-in), on Amazon Web Services servers in Sydney, Australia. This website is hosted by Cloudflare. Apple provides Sign in with Apple and delivers notifications. These providers process data only on our behalf, to run BURNITERR.

How long we keep it

As long as you have an account. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, bets, weigh-ins, photos, cheers, reports, and your weights in past results from our server straight away. A bet you shared ends for your friend (or keeps its result if it was already over), without your details. Backups, where kept, expire within 30 days.

Your choices and rights

You can see and change your details in the app, change who sees your progress in each bet, and delete your account in Profile → Settings. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to ask for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to object to how we use it. Email 8dilation@gmail.com and we’ll help.

Adults only

BURNITERR is for people aged 18 and over. We don’t knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you think a child is using BURNITERR, tell us and we’ll delete their account.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update this page and its date. We’ll tell you in the app about any important change before it applies to you.
